Icebreaker Activity

Class Size: Groups from about 6 to 15
Materials Needed: None
Time required: About 6 minutes for the dyad interview activity and about 30 seconds for each person’s introduction.
Instructions:
Ask participants to break into dyads and introduce themselves to one another. If the number in the group is uneven, allow groups to form triads for the interview if necessary.
Give participants only a few minutes (about 3 minutes for each interview) to complete the exercise. Suggest the kind of information you want shared (name, place worked, why attending the program, etc.) Write these topics on a flip chart, write-on board or overhead to help the class remember.
At the end of the exercise each person in the dyad (or triad) will introduce the other. This exercise will take too long with a large group but if you have 20 to 30 minutes it can be done with groups up to about 15 people.
