Two Truths and a Lie

An Icebreaker Activity

Recommended Class Size: To keep the activity to

30 minutes or less, use with class sizes of 15 or less

Materials Needed: None

Time Required:  Allow 5 minutes to divide the class into smaller groups and give them instructions.  A triad is ideal.  Allow the groups about 10 to 12 minutes for the activity.  Allow about 30 seconds per person for the introductions after the activity.

Instructions:

This exercise is especially useful among groups of people who know one another.  Break the class into groups of three to five.  Each person is to tell two facts and one untruth about themselves.  The others in the group must then try to guess which are facts and which are untrue.  Participants should be instructed to make it very hard for the group to determine what is not true.

After the exercise each person in the group introduces one of the participants and tells what new thing they learned about this individual.
